Everything started 3 weeks ago, when there was a gossip that Sir Richard Branson was in Cabarete looking for investments, and of course for the perfect place to kite…. ( as he is an avid and passionate kiter )
I had a vision that I needed him to hear about MOrph and about our Mega Event we are having in Playa del Carmen in February 2011, and for whatever reason I knew I was going to meet him.
Though luck, he left the next day, so I prepared an email, explaining everything, I sent it via Virgin.com to ALL, and trust me …ALL email addresses possible, of course I knew this was a slim chance for him to contact me… anyway I did it…. of course NO RESPONSE, however I´ve heard that he was going to come back 3 weeks later to look into Millenium´s new Development, so I thought that this was going to be my opportunity… how??? I didn´t know, I just knew I was going to make the contact.
Anyway, last friday Night, we went to NIKKI BEACH SOFT OPENING PARTY we were invited by Dean Parsons, and hosted and sitted right on the VIP table together with JENIYA and MICHAEL PENROD; Nikki Beach Owners, we had a Blast and the party and the place was just awesome, great environment, great place, lots of cool people, and great music by DJ RO-Z!!!
our friends from México, Memo Tellez , Lalo Soto, and German Juarez, were also present at this Mega Party!!!
while we were partying like Rock stars, I saw in the table in front of us, a big party of 20 people, and there he was, celebrating his Son´s Birthday! wow, it was very impressive to be on this unreal scenario…. he didn´t stayed longer as many people was coming over to get a picture with him, so I guess this was not fun for him, but, Hey! price of the fame isn´t it???
we had an invite to participate of the Private MILLENIUM´S SWIMMING POOL PARTY the next day, hosted by www.cabareterealestate.com and Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding, and I knew he was going to be there, and I thought this was going to be the right time to extend the invitation for him,
It was pretty cool, because, we were supposed to wear Boardies and BOwties for the guys, and Bikinis and high heels for the girls….
so we had this idea, and we went and made Custom Hand Painted/Airbrush MORPH TUXEDOS for all the boys and BIKINIS for the girls!!!! it was a blast, and EVERYBODY loved them, plus we were super fancy dressed!!!!
Stephen Knof, from Agression BOards/Cabarete Real Estate, took Dean, Grace, Jenna and me, for a tour to the units, I must say they are awesome!!!! I was thinking to sell my apartment in Playa, and come here, just unbelievable to think we were in Cabarete!!
we saw all the units, and at the end, he took us to the Pent House, were Sir Richard and his family were having a private dinner, before going downstairs to join the rest of the party, as we are walking in, he is sitting right on the middle of a table with maybe 12 guests, Including Susi Mai, Professional Kiteboarder, and the rest of his family, he looks at us, and says hi with his head and raise the glass to us in a signal of welcome…. we didn´t get close to him, obviously as we felt we were interrupting his dinner, but we stayed there for like 5 mins, Stepehen was talking about the development, the units, etc, and then Sir Richard approached us just to thank DEAN for the BOx of Cigars he had sent to him previously, he stayed there talked briefly with Dean, and took off, …. that was the closest we get to him….
then we went downstairs to continue with the party…
as we are partying, through the night, we saw Sir Richard and his entourage coming to the pool, and do their own thing, of course, and as everything was treated around him, I saw impossible to reach him…. until the point that I was just looking for her assistant to pass the message, anyway ,he will get it, I thought… so Jenna and I decided to take a walk around the pool looking for his assistant, as I turned my head, I look at this guy completely wet and wearing pants, soaking wet!!! that was him, and when he saw me, he started laughing, and making signs that ooops was not my fault….. then I saw the moment, and went towards him, I introduce myself, gave him my business card, I congratulate him about Virgin Amercia touching LA/Mexico, and how important this is going to be for his company, and started talking about who I was and what is what we ( MORPH ) are doing, it was really interesting, because he started listening, asking me questions, he changed his posture, and actually sat down to engage a conversation with me, I told him about this project/event we are going to be hosting in February, and how this would be a great opportunity to promote VIRGIN AMERICA´s new destination LAX/CANCUN, he told me with his British accent, Lovely Idea, I love it!!! he actually told me a story about the first time he went to Mexico, he said that he took a boat, and he was going to Cozumel, and in the middle of the trip he jumped out of the boat, and came swimming towards the continental part of Mexico ( Playa del Carmen ) jajaja, we both started laughing! then he told me I better get a hold of his Personal assistant, as he might destroy my card because he was all wet, no problem this are waterproof I told him, he said…Clever!, then we shook hands, and I continued to the party, looking for his assistant that now, I know her name is Sam… what a great conversation, great smile, great dude, totally down to earth, made me feel comfortable all the time, and as I know whom I was talking to, everything felt really smooth…. nice!!!!
we found Sam, also totally cool girl, super friendly and open as well, and explained to her all that happened, while one of Sir Richard´s Sons was talking to Jenna and telling her that when they saw us walking into the penthouse , they were blown away with our outfits, that they though it was a really cool idea!!!! and that it looks great!!!!
Sam was telling me, she is flying back home today, and monday she will e mail me all the info needed to finalize our project, Closed deal!
after that we continue partying, blending into the crowds, and I must say it was very rewarding and satisfying have done this…. I did my part, now is their turn….
It is all about Goal accomplishments,
it took me 3 weeks, but I knew I was going to make it, and I did it!!!
it was awesome!
