“Best way to spend your vacation in Riviera Maya”
This is the first on-line review I have ever posted ..on anything actually! I usually am somewhat suspect of most reviews , as they sound pretty canned and/or over-the-top, and appear as if they were solicited by the owners of the business or penned by people who work for the company.
Well, as a hard-core, skeptical New Yorker plus an avid snowboarder and former skate(board)er, I am writing to say that Morph Kiteboarding is the real deal. Furthermore, Morph David Furchtgott, is one of the most passionate and involved instructors that I have every come across for any sport or activity that I was interested in tackling. What I liked most of all, actually, is David’s integrity. Whenever he promised me that that he would be somewhere or do something, he always delivered, and was a man of his word. I find that to be a very elusive quality these days. Similarly, David is a very patient instructor, and he takes the time to make sure that you really grasp each fundamental building block BEFORE you advance to the next step. I learned in two sessions in poor wind conditions, and I really believe that it was thanks to his hands-on and thorough instruction and care.
It was also refreshing to be out in the water with David and know that he had my best interests at heart, and that he was genuinely interested in me learning and appreciating kiteboarding the way that he does, instead of focusing on taking my money. David is the kind of guy that you feel comfortable with from the first minute that you start talking with him.. I would recommend him and Morph to anyone interested in becoming a kiteboarder, including kids.

P.S. Buy some Morph shirts and gear, they kick some serious a–!

Great website? Check. Quick almost immediate response by email or phone? Check. Friendly service? Check. Great location for kiteboarding on Xpu Ha Beach? Check (minimal rocks, long beach, few other boarders) Friendly, knowledgeable instruction? Check. Building block progression of equipment, kite management, dragging, dragging with board, SURFING? CHECK.
Only complaint, they left Mexico for two months and I had to wait two months for them to get back. But trust me, after waiting at shops for help, taking lessons from other unreliable, bad equipment setup, unprofessional lessons, this is WELL WORTH the wait.
I can’t over emphasize the professionalism of this operation. It’s like taking lessons at the Ritz! And that’s what I needed and was missing: reliability and professionalism. for example, we set an appointment to kiteboard weather permitting at 9:00 the next morning. At 8:00 my phone was ringing to verify weather and confirm the appointment with an apology if he called too early. My last lesson called me at 10:00 at night to CANCEL my next day’s appt. as something important to him had come up. This is AFTER I had agreed to pick him up as he didn’t have a car. Not a problem with Morph. The next call was to inform my house that they would be 10 minutes late. 10 minutes late??? I was 10 minutes late and they beat me there! These guys weren’t on Mexican time, they were on American time!
Then the great instruction starts. Previously I had a kite set up that left me wondering if I was talented enough and frankly, it was dangerous. This kite and instruction was flawless with good building blocks letting me see I could easily do this.
Overall, no negatives, very professional, good rates, good guys, seriously in love with their sport and worried about customer satisfaction. And, go home and he may have already loaded pictures to look at as they had for me.
One more comment, don’t get cocky and think you can do this without instruction. Not worth it and almost not possible. Too much to learn.

I made the wise choice of calling David in February to hook up for some Kiteboarding instruction. The dedication to the sport that David and Jenna displayed was impressive. Morph instructors were professional to say the least. Thomas’s technique had me up and riding very quickly while feeling relaxed and safe at all times. The other two instructors that I met (Christine and Sean) were of the same high caliber. The experience provided by David and Jenna went far beyond just simple kiteboarding lessons. Xpu-ha was breathtaking. David and Jenna let me tag along to one of their trips to Isla Blanca where my learning experience really took off. I will most certainly be returning to Playa Del Carmen and will be entrusting Morph Kiteboarding to provide lessons to my kids. I am now so hooked on this sport thanks to my experience with Morph. – Edmonton, Canada

The Crew down at Morph Kiteboarding are stoked to get you out and see you progress. I spent 12 days at Playa Azul with them and had a blast. Very chill, yet always something goin on even when it’s not windy. The instructors are concise and thorough. They made it super easy to learn the ways of kiteboarding. Thanks For the Stoke Morph!

The team at Morph Kiteboarding are both fun and professional and use progressions so that just about anyone can learn kiteboarding with some time. A great group of instructors from around the world and a variety of languages spoken. In a couple hours worth of lessons I was able to gain control of the kite on the beach, and then later in the water. Definitely a sport and a school to check out – especially in such a beautiful location! – Victoria BC

After returning from my second visit to Mexico to kiteboard, I can honestly say that these guys are awesome. Awesome instructors, excellent gear and great facilities. Definitely some of the nicest people you’re going to meet anywhere!! I spent a week with Morph in Playa del Carmen last year and just got back from a week in Tulum. These sites are both exceptionally beautiful and well recommended. If you’re looking to kiteboard for the first time, hoping to rent gear and get out on the water or are just looking for a great group of people stoked on the sport to chat with, Morph Kiteboarding is the place to be. And seriously it’s paradise! Just don’t forget your sunscreen

Just back from a couple of weeks in Tulum and although I never write reviews, I was so impressed with our experience there that I felt it was worth sharing. Our main objective was to learn to kiteboard. We did some research prior to going and discovered a few kiteboarding schools in the Tulum area. However our decision on who to go with was made easy. From the initial communications with David, the owner of Morph, we knew this was a professionally run and friendly school. He was super helpful and responsive. We were able to pre pay for our course online and David also provided us with a great recommendation on a local place to stay, Coco.
Our actual instruction was with Jacob, who was fantastic. My husband and I were both novices to start but his enthusiasm and focus on safety made us feel really relaxed. His passion for teaching was also clear and while it took us a little longer to grasp the finer details of kite control, he was always patient and encouraging. He knew we were both keen to leave competent riders but he always took our ability into consideration before pushing us to the next level. Even in days when there was no local wind they organised a trip 2 hours away to ensure we were able to take full advantage of our time in Mexico. We both left having stood up on our boards, even if only for a few seconds.
I HIGHLY recommend Morph and encourage everyone to look them up for some lessons. The whole experience was fantastic and the entire team of Morph staff at Playa Azul were super friendly, supportive and fun, plus the beach is absolutely gorgeous- what more could you want. Thanks again David, Jacob, Dan, Diego, Kath and Monolo, we had the best time!! – London

Just back from a family kiteboarding vacation along the Mayan Riviera. After a day of kiting off of Maroma Beach, I had the chance to meet some of the crew of Morph Kiteboarding. David Furchtgott , the co-founder of Morph, and his team are great ambassadors for the sport. Thanks to David the next day my son, brother in-law and I scored a great flat water session at Isla Blanca. Definitely look these guys up if you are going to be heading south of the boarder for a kite trip. I think that Morph has four or five locations in Mexico. We were traveling with our own kites and boards but they have gear and can provide high quality lessons as well. – Lake Forest, IL

I just got back from a long weekend in Moroma Beach, Playa del Carmen with the Morph Kiteboarding Crew. . I have been kiting for a good amount of time now (9 years) and been to Australia, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Hood River Oregon, Antigua, and St. Barts all for kiting and more places. If you want to learn how to kiteboard or just become a better rider than take my advice and book your next vacation to Playa del Carmen with Morph Kiteboarding right now. You will not be dissapointed, not even the slightest. David and his crew: Dylan, Cedric, Jacobe, Antonio (Professional Photographer), Bas, and the rest of the group are some of the nicest, most friendly, genuine human beings I have come across and to top it off they have teaching experience to get anyone safely ripping in the shortest time you have. My friend who is 200 LBS was learning on an 8-meter Ovanga learned how to ride upwind for the first time in 13-14 knots!! It is a crazy good kite and the entire group is so patient with everyone no matter your ability. I never saw one person not smiling the weekend I was their. Truly a pleasure to be around such a positive atmosphere and stunning background/conditions to ride in. The conditions are dreamlike for kiteboarding: massive/wide open beaches sandy beaches You literally can ride beautiful turquoise water along the coastline in NE, E, and SE, S or head to the most epic flat water lagoon you can imagine in a North wind to practice any new trick or skill you have been dying to learn. But the best part is you can learn and ride anywhere since the conditions are so forgiving. All in all Morph rocks, just go and experience this magic setup for yourself. I definitely recommend the winter months into spring to score the best wind conditions. Thanks again David, Dylan, Cedric, and Jacobe I will highly recommend you guys to my friends!!!!! Cheers – Chicago, Illinois

We went down for a long weekend hoping to get in some kiting. We took our own equipment and were riding at the Maroma beach our first day when we ran into David, Dillon and Sedrick of the Morph Kiteboarding crew. They are the nicest guys you will meet on a beach and are true ambassadors of the sport. They totally hooked us into the local scene and included us in a road trip the next day to a remote beach that led to an amazing day of riding. These guys made our trip. I highly recommend Morph, its team and the location for a great kiteboarding experience. NYC

I got lessons from Jacob who was patient and went through the sport in a step by step fashion. He is a teacher by trade, and his skills shone in this introduction to the sport for me. I had a blast, and loved this activity on the beach. I have already looked into doing this at home in Canada! – Kelowna
